Why do most people root for the underdog?

In my opinion, most people root for the underdog because it's more entertaining and it's easier to sympathize with them.

An underdog is a person who is often expected to lose, is unappreciated, weaker and who doesn't receive a lot of support from their surroundings. They have to work really hard to actually get somewhere, to show everyone around them that they're not this weak, worthless nobody everyone sees them as. That hard work and the effort put in it is a lot more interesting to watch than just an easy win of someone that is liked and doesn't lack anything.

Another reason most people is more likely to root for the underdog is because they can see themselves in a person like that. Throughout our lives we're often told that we're not enough, we're told we're going to fail even before we have the time to start. We understand underdogs - know how hurtful is can be to not have anyone support you or believe in you. We root for them so they can prove their worth and show how wrong everyone were about them.

That's why people root for underdogs.

  1. You have a good topic sentence but your conclusion needs some development - you should repeat the reasons you showed in the paragraph.
