Stalking on social media
With the popularization of social media it has become much easier for stalkers to follow their victims. Criminals no longer need a physical presence to keep track of someone’s whereabouts – they get it from geotags, portability of mobile phones, check-ins and other location-identifying services. All of that information is gained from social media profiles of the potential victims. Not long ago social media was specifically about keeping in touch with your family and friends, it was private. As it evolved it ecouraged people to ''open'' their accounts to general public, let everyone have access to them. That resulted in a dicrease of privacy and safety of social media users.
