youth climate advocates participation at COP27
There is now a UN climate summit, COP27, happening in Sharm
El Sheikh, Egypt. For the first time, COP will have a Youth Envoy, Omnia El
Omrani, who will help to make sure that youth climate advocates are heard at
COP27. young people will also have their own pavilion, where they can run events
at COP. I think it’s absolutely great that nowadays more and more world leaders take their time to listen
to what young people and children have to say about our planet. It’s especially important that youth
is heard because it’s them who will live in the future world that adults are creating right
now. Because young people will be the ones facing the consequences of climate
change they want to do anything they can to reduce the numer of those
consequences as much as possible. Unfortunately, since they’re underage they
can appeal for a change but are unable to make it so it’s really important that
their voice is starting to have a meaning for the world leaders who can make that change.

Unfortunately, most of the COP conferences so far have turned out to be completely useless from the point of view of averting climate change. The world leaders may even listen to the young but they have more important interests to take into account: global companies, world superpowers, their countries' economy, etc.
